Splash is a Blue Merle Border Collie. I had never intended to get a dog that wasn’t already homeless but I believe in destiny and that Splash and I were meant to be partners in life in the same way I felt when I met all my dogs. So Splash came to live with the Kikopup Clan. She is the most caring of all my dogs and is always there to offer me a paw or give me a lick when I am having a hard time.
Splash was attacked by a dog as a puppy which left her traumatized and reactive. She became frightened of other dogs and of any living thing coming towards her from miles away. Splash has taught me so much about helping dogs that are reactive and fearful. Now Splash loves other dogs and people and is a very calm, confident and joyful dog. She even helps other dogs learn to gain their confidence. Splash excels in complex behaviors and freestyle moves that require precision, like skipping, fancy footwork, painting, and stacking cones.
Splash reminds me of snoopy as she has some quirky behaviors like wanting to sleep UNDER dog beds.
Since Splash was a puppy, she has had a blanket that she likes to suckle on from time to time. She says a growly howly “hee LLOO!” if you ask her to say hi to someone who has just arrived.
She loves to talk to my parents and brother on Skype.
She is very independent and loves to spend time on her own. Most nights she sleeps in the living room, instead of in the bedroom with us and the other dogs. She wants to be let out into the garden to lay in the grass and sniff the breeze. She always has a blissful look on her face, no matter the season. She loves to dive into fresh snow and lay there, as well as bathe in the sun of summer. She always knows when I need cheering up and she is always there 100%. I really don’t know how I would cope without her. With all my other dogs I feel like a guardian or care taker, but with Splash I feel like she is taking care of me every step I take. She understands me the best out of all the dogs.
